Adirondack Steak and Seafood: Located in the heart of Main Street this Lake Placid institution serves great steaks and their own beer in a comfortable casual environment. The prime rib and filet are both favorites’ of mine. Go early or late, since they don’t accept reservations, ask for Rob and tell them Thaddeus sent you.

Café Rustica: So I would probably guess if I told you this place had the best Italian food in Lake Placid, your thought would be no big deal, Italian food far from NYC or Philadelphia can’t be that good anyway. How about if I told you this place will rival the best of Italian restaurants in NYC and Philadelphia! Now you’re talking. The authenticity, flavor, and portions are amazing! Don’t let its strip mall location off of Main Street or the fact that it has only a handful of tables deter you. This place is worth the wait. My favorites are one of the many brick oven pizza’s to start followed by the Chicken Saltimbocca. Tell them Thaddeus sent you.

Lisa G’s: A great place to drink or eat, or in my case both. This casual atmosphere, outside deck, fresh ingredients, best french fries, and coolest bar owner in town are all the reasons why this place gets my vote! Ask for Rocco.

Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride
Melisa and George operate what may be one of the most enjoyable activities in the north country! Two majestic Belgian draft horses can take you and 10 friends on a 35 to 45 minute sleigh ride through some of the most scenic trails you have ever seen. Don’t think this is slow paced, when four thousand pounds of draft horse get up and go you better hold on!

Toboggan Chute across Mirror Lake
This is so much fun for all ages that it should be illegal. The concepts is very simple, a converted ski jump ramp 30ft in the air, a frozen lake with a good 12 inches of ice, and a toboggan! Riders walk to the top of the start and get on their toboggans which hold up to four people and slide down the frozen track at speeds approaching 30mph. At the bottom you slide across the lake for up to 1000ft depending upon ice conditions! Please call in advance, to make sure they are operating.
